2027 Travel Team Tryouts

Who will be evaluating tryouts?

We are excited to partner with Flexx for our 2027 Travel Tryouts. Flexx specializes in baseball and softball player evaluations and works with youth associations throughout the Greater Twin Cities area.

Flexx’s experienced evaluators will assess players using both traditional softball evaluations and measurable performance testing, including speed, exit velocity, throwing/arm strength, pitching velocity, and catcher pop times when applicable.

Flexx also provides each evaluated player with a Player Locker, where their evaluation results can be securely stored and tracked over time.

What does my tryout fee include?

The $50 tryout fee covers the cost of hosting tryouts, including fields, equipment, supplies, and other expenses needed to run the event.

It also includes access to your player’s Flexx Player Locker, where you can view the performance data collected during tryouts.

If your player is selected for an NRFPC Travel team, the $50 tryout fee will be applied toward their 2027 Travel registration fees.

What if NRFPC can't field a team at my players age?

Our goal is to provide a team and a place to play for every player. We will do everything we can to field a team, including reaching out to surrounding communities and utilizing available resources to build a roster.

If we are ultimately unable to field a team at your player’s age level due to enrollment or roster size, the $50 tryout fee will be fully refunded.

What if my player decides to play local travel instead?

That’s great! We support families choosing the program that is the best fit for their player.

Please note that the $50 tryout fee is non-refundable and cannot be applied toward registration fees for local travel.

Can my player try out for an older age group?

Players are welcome to challenge themselves by trying out for an older age group if they feel they are ready. However, players must also try out for their appropriate age level.

Players who wish to play up must follow NRFPC’s Play-Up Policy and submit the required play-up request. A request does not guarantee placement in the older age group.

What if my player can't make tryouts?

There will be no make-up tryout date. If your player is unable to attend, we will use their coach evaluation scores from the most recent season as part of the team placement process.

When will teams be announced?

Teams are expected to be announced by the end of October 2026.

How are teams selected?

Teams are selected based on a player’s tryout evaluation, coach evaluations, skills, softball knowledge, coachability, and overall readiness.

We will also consider team needs and roster balance when creating teams. Our goal is to place each player at the level that is the best fit for their development.

Will there be a spot for every player?

Our goal is to provide a spot for every player who wants to be part of the program. Team formation will depend on enrollment, roster sizes, and the needs of each age group.

What happens after teams are announced?

Families will receive information about next steps, including registration, team communication, practices, and upcoming season details.

What should my player bring to tryouts?

Cleats, softball glove, bat, fielding mask, batting helmet, and water. Catcher's gear is optional, as we will have gear available.

Is the $10 late fee refundable?

No. The $10 late fee is non-refundable in all circumstances. It is an additional fee for registrations received after the September 28, 2026 deadline.
